Gateway laptop

Hello,



I have a gateway md78 series laptop. I installed a new hd. I have tried to use my gateway restore cd's that i purchased from gateway and get halfway thru the install and it goes to the blue windows error screen. i also tried to instal vista from a purchased vista cd and get the same error. please help
