Help Connection to Internet

Hello,
My friend has given me some fairly new computers and i am having a problem connecting to my modem. The computers are all Windows XP and were used for high speed internet however it computer was cleared because of a virus. Then it was setup for dial-up. Now, i have it plugged into my router and i have tried to create and change connections but its all for dial-up. Please note that i also do not have the disk for my modem or the box, I know that it is verizon DSL though. Please help me, Thank you.

go to tools in internet explorer and change the connection from dial-up to network.
