I am having issues with my sound device, I have seen many similar posts yet none of the fixes recommended there seem to work with my machine.

I have the messege No Audio Output Device Installed and the speaker icon with a red cross. In my device manager I have no Sound Option at all.

I have uninstalled/reinstalled numerous Realtek Drivers but my sound is still not working. The issue arose after my machine automatically installed windows updates, yet after uninstalling them all and reinstalling drivers still nothing. I even rolled back my machine to an early recover point before the issue occured and it is still not working.

I haven't had the back of this laptop off to look at the soundcard so I am assuming that this is a software/driver issue.

Please can you help me resolve this issue.
Thanks in advance.

Hello,

Try installing the "Chipset" drivers first and then audio drivers.

Click on the below link and download the drivers.

https://www.acer.com/worldwide/support/

Click on "Notebook" --> Aspire --> Aspire 5520.

Select your "Operating System" from the drop-down menu.

If the problem still exists, update your BIOS.

Good Luck.

Chipset then Audio drivers did not work :(

I then downloaded the latesst BIOS update from Acer
Upon running this it flashed the error message "The szie (actually how it was spelt) or file name of ROM file is incorrect" and terminated the application.

So apart from a full format I'm now at a quandry with what I should do, any suggestions?

Hello,
Go to your BIOS and check whether the audio is enabled or not.
Good Luck.
