Ps3 IP Adress Problem

Hello,

I got a brand new 120GB ps3. I have a ethernet cablehooked up to the console. Every time i plug the wire into themodemand run a internet connection test, it takes about a minute and says " The attempt to obtain an IP address timed out " .

Someone please help me with this problem.

Hi, Ive had exact same problem, and my system works now. What I did was checked ip adress, router gate way, dns etc from my laptop . go to RUN type cmd, on the screen that comes up type ipconfig\all. on your ps3 on conection settings choose manual and enter the ip adress etc manually. That solved the problem for me, hope it works for you.
