External harddrive data not shown

Hello,

i have an external hard drive of WD 500GB. when i connect it with my PC, the drive detect but could not open, it needs formatting. i tried with PC Inspector to recover the data, it works but take a huge time. is there any short way to recover my data?

Dear Sir,

Please get it connected instead of the CD Rom drive for it to be detected.

now i'm using firewire 4/6 cable with my Dell laptop, i can't connect it with CD Rom drive.
