No sound!

Hello,

i have windows xp 2002 home edition
i restarted my computer around 4 months and since i restarted my computer my sound all of the sudden doesn't work!
i restarted my computer all over again since i found out my sound doesn't work ,but my problem was still not solved!
i unplugged everything , but it still did not work!
i went on my control panel to check what was wrong , but i
went on volume and it appears that i have no audio device
and that i cannot change my sound volume it blocks my mouse.
can u please help me!
i don not know what to do

HI dere,
As you have mentioned that the sound on the system is not working, could you please check that if there is any "RED X" on the bottom right hand corner of the screen on the Volume Icon. Or, else you can check in Device manager that if the sound card is disabled.

-> To get into the device manager
1) Click "START" button and in Run type in "devmgmt.msc"
2) It will open the Device Manager screen
3) IN that somewhere on the bottom you will see the oiption of Sound and controllers
4) Please check if there is any Yellow Bang or Red X on any of the suboptions.

Try these steps and also I would recommend you to please try different set of speakers to check if the speakers are working good.

Also I would recommend u to please check if the sound is full

Also I would like you to try and connect headphones to check if you get any sound on the headphones.

And at last I would recommend you to please update the sound drivers of the system.
