Hello,

My old computer's motherboard went bad and was not able to be fixed so I bought a new computer with windows 7(I was running XP on the old computer). I have an external hard drive that has all my files, but I don't know how to get the data from the external hard drive to my new computer. Can someone help?

is it a usb external drive?

if so, just plug it into your computer, go to computer on the start menu,

Your drive should be in the 'devices with removable storage' category.

once there, you can cut/copy and paste to your hearts content to your computer from the external hdd.

Hi,

If its a normal hard disk then connect it to new pc and assign jumper to slave or cd and access it on your system in my computer when powered on else if new pc do not break the seal on it so that warranty do not become void,in this situation purchase an enclosure 3.5'' for fitting your hard drive in it and connect to p[c via its data cable and ready to get all your info on it and you may move it to new pc or let it there and access anywhere on any system anytime

Thanks
