PS3 wired internet connection

Hello, I just brought up my ps3 to uni and have had to switch from a wireless to wired connection. I got everything registed with the uni to enable me to play online but then when i try to change the network setting to a wired connection it comes up with 'failed to find the IP address'. Any suggestions would be great. cheers

Try asking the uni network admin if they assign manual IPs for devices that are connected, they may have multiple networks so ask them for all the network info that you'll need to connect including IP address and then set up the network connection on the ps3 via custom instead of easy, this will enable you to enter an IP address manually. If I am completely wrong, call ps3 support.
