Hello,
The problem is surely coming from corrupted or missing system files and one method by which you might get it all fixed up is removing the iTunes and Quick Time application and getting it reinstalled again. If ever you have some purchased music on iTunes, do make a back up for not losing them.
Yet before getting through the above mentioned instructions, please make sure that there is no third party software blocking it to run properly.
