Files turned into shorcuts in external drive
Solved/Closed
Hello,
I have a seagate external drive which i was using on my mac and got movies and music on it, about 200GB of 320GB. Now am using a toshiba laptop and all i see is shortcut icons to my imovies and itunes, on properties it shows only about 100GB free meaning the stuff is still on my HDD. Can someone help me recover or help me to find a way to assess to my folders. thanks

Hello,
Try this 1.
Step 1:
Click on the below link and download the file "AutorunExterminator"
https://ccm.net/downloads/security-and-maintenance/5911-autorun-exterminator/
Extract it --> Double-click on "AutorunExterminator" --> Plug your external drive
now. This will remove the autorun.inf files.
Step 2:
Click on "Start" --> In search box, type cmd and press Enter.
"Command Prompt" will be opened.
Here I assume your external drive letter as G:
Enter this command.
attrib -h -r -s /s /d g:\*.*
[You can copy the above command --> Right-click in the Command Prompt and
paste it.]
Note : Don't forget to replace the letter g with your external drive letter.
Now press "Enter".
Now check for your files in your external drive.
Step 3:
After that, download the Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from the below link
https://ccm.net/downloads/security-and-maintenance/4621-malwarebytes-anti-malware/
Update it --> Perform "Full Scan"
Note : Default selected option is "Quick Scan".
Good Luck.
