Hello,
I am devastated. I store all my pictures and video on an WD external hard drive. I just downloaded a lot of our vacation pictures, also double checked to make sure they are on my hard drive and then proceeded to delete them of my XD card. My sister wanted to transfer some of the pictures onto her flash drive, she pluged in her flash drive in another USB port and now my computer suddenly does not recognize my external hard drive and requests a fromatting. Please is there anybody out there that can help me. My family pictures and vidoes mean everything to me and right now it seems like I lost about 2 years worth of it.
Thank you so much for your help
Petra

Hello,

Have you tried with another usb port or cable ? On another computer what happens?

Or just try this fix:

Check first if your external drive is detected by your BIOS.

If it is the case, try this:

Click on Start --> Run ---> type diskmgmt.msc and click on OK.

Right-click on WD Passport Drive --> Select "Change Drive Letter and Paths..." --->

Click on "Add" button ---> Select your drive letter and click on OK.

Note : If the drive letter is already assigned, then try changing the drive letter

by clicking on "Change" button instead of "Add" button in the above step.

Good Luck!
