Gateway NV79 won't turn offm stuck in shuttin

Hello,
My Gateway NV79 will not turn off. Battery was low so I instructed to shut down. Now all I have is the Shutting Down continuously on the screen but cannot turn it off to try a reboot?

Remove and insert your battery again,try turning on
