Internet USB Modem to work with PS3?

Hello,
I use an Optus Post-paid USB Modem (huawei) on a windows 7 HP Pavilion latop. And I badly want to connect my internet to my PS3. I plugged my USB into the one of the ports of the PS3 but nothing happened.
Is there a way to connect the PS3 to the internet on my laptop?
