Cannot connect to internet on laptop but

Hello,
I cannot connect to internet on a windows vista laptop but I can on my computer.
The internet icons to connect to show up and when I click on the main one, enter the password, it loads for like 5 minutes then just closes that little box and I'm still not connected to the internet? I've rebooted router, restarted the laptop.
I would really appreciate it if you could help me solve this problem, if theres a button on the keyboard I need to press and you know about it, I would love it if you could help.

are you connecting to a wifi router?
how bout before? is that laptop were able to connect to that router?

It's a router that has a lead connecting to my computer but is also a wifi one as it accepts WIFI laptops.
And yes, I were able to connect to the laptop before. I've had this problem for about 1 week now, but before that it was working fine.

hmmp.. how bout if u connect that lead to ur laptop? and see if u can connect to internet.

how many internet icon u have now? two?
1 for the lead and other for the wifi?
right click the internet icon for the wifi.
and see what are options. and tell wat are those.

There are many internet icons available obviously because it picks up neighbour connections. When I rightclick it, it just says "What's this?"

where/what did u clicked before you get the list of internet icons?
