Headphone and speakers not working on laptop

Hello,

I recently got a laptop off a friend and everything has been working fine, but then I got a virus on it and had to reset it! Now the speakers and headphones are not working on it!

I have tried many things that people have responded to similar questions, but nothing seems to work.

I use a Compaq laptop and my brother recently installed the windows 8 sample onto it!

please help! Thank you!
(I can not afford to buy a new laptop!

Hello

I suggest that you revert back to your previous windows as Windows 8 (sample) does not have your sound drivers.
