toshiba problems Solved/Closed

Question

Hello, 

i have a toshiba saterlite laptop no checked the model or numbers it is my daughters used for uni work
i switched it on it went thro the start up of windows seven just after the welcome screen it goes blank pressed f8 and went thro all the repairs listed there and nothing did get some thing at one of them saying some like boot record not there or boot area faulty never found it since but still get a blank screen

would a factory reset rectify this with out wiping all her work?

Hi,

Factory reset will bring back the lappy to it's original state, therefore all data and applications which were not there when the machine was purchased will be deleted.

Can you boot in safe mode with networking ?

nope it just goes into blank screen in every mode i have tried

looks like i will have to remove hard drive and attach it to my computer and retreve all info then?

I believe you are correct, but be careful as I suspect that the initial problem was caused by a virus.

 i talked to the IT department at work they said they would retreive the data for me which is really good :)
