I believe you are correct, but be careful as I suspect that the initial problem was caused by a virus.

Hi,
Factory reset will bring back the lappy to it's original state, therefore all data and applications which were not there when the machine was purchased will be deleted.
Can you boot in safe mode with networking ?

nope it just goes into blank screen in every mode i have tried

looks like i will have to remove hard drive and attach it to my computer and retreve all info then?

i talked to the IT department at work they said they would retreive the data for me which is really good :)
