Hi ericekpe,
The Inspiron 530 Series system supports up to eight GB of memory in four memory slots. The memory speeds supported include 667, and 800 MHz DDR2 memory.
Only the above mentioned memory speeds are tested. Please ensure you have the correct memory speed and type, i.e. DDR2. If you have the correct Memory Modules and still the computer won't start with the added memory, please try the good 1 GB memory in each slot to verify all the slots on the motherboard are working.
