Hello,
Try this 1
1) First backup your registry.
Click on Start --> In search bar, type regedt32 and press Enter.
"Registry Editor" will be opened. Click on "File" --> Export --> Save the file with
any name in your desired location. Close the "Registry Editor".
2) Click on the below hyperlink "Drive Cleanup" and download the file.
Drive Cleanup
Extract it. If you are using 32-bit OS when open the "Win32" folder.
If you are using 64-bit OS then open the "x64" folder.
[Note : If you have no idea whether you are running 32-bit or 64-bit then
click on the below hyperlink "Version" and follow the instructions to find it.
Version]
Right-click on the "DriveCleanup" and select the option "Run as administrator".
After completion of the process, now try connecting your external drive.
Good Luck

You need to first extract it and then if you are using 32-bit OS then open the folder "Win32" folder and there you can find the exe file. You need to right-click on that file and then select run as administrator.
Good Luck
