Hello,
I just bought a wireless router, D-Link, and I'm trying to set up wireless internet for my laptop. Why does a wireless router have me connect an ethernet cable from the back of my laptop to the router? I thought I was going to have wireless internet to be able to take the laptop anywhere in the house?

This is for security. The router makes you connect by wire to add or change the SSID and password. They ALL work this way. Once you have set-up the router and laptop you can disconnect the cable and use the wireless.
