Hello,
I was wondering if somebody could help me.
My WD My Passport ternal hard drive was working perfectly yesterday.
When I plugged it in today, it made the normal usb sound when I plugged it in but it didn't show in my computer.
However, it did show in device manager and it said that the device is working properly but it did not show in disk management.
All drivers are up to date with installations.
Please be so kind as to help.
Many thanks

Hello,
Try this 1
Click on Start --> Run --> Type cmd and press Enter.
"Command Prompt" will be opened.
set devmgr_show_nonpresent_devices=1 --> Press Enter
start devmgmt.msc --> Press Enter
"Device Manager" window will be opened.
Now in the device manager, click on "View" --> Select "Show hidden devices"
Now expand the nodes "Disk Drives" and "Universal serial bus controller" by
clicking on "+" symbol. If you find any greyed entries --> Right click on it -->
Select "Uninstall".
Restart your PC and connect your external drive.
Good Luck

Do you hear any clicking sound from the external hard drive after connecting it to your PC ?
But try connecting it to another PC or use another USB cable.
Good Luck

If you hear strange clicking sound from the external hard drive then the problem might be with
the hard drive itself. Does it shows the external drive name in device manager or its just showing
as USB Device ?
Let me know the external hard drive complete model number.
Good Luck
