HDD External Hard Drive Corrupted and Unreadable, [Solved/Closed]

Hello,

I have Portable HDD of 260GB, and I have made 3 partition in it.

Drive Name are as follows;
I: (working)
J: (working)
K: (Working)

the problem is when I click open J: one of my follder(ex:photos) is not accessible
The file or directory is corrupted or unreadable"

and I have my very useful Data so I cant format it.

so please its a huge request please give some of Solution that works
and I have my very useful Data in it so I cant format my HDD.

I was almost coming to my wit's end when I stumbled on your posting regarding the Ext HD corrupted and unreadable. I followed your step for checking the disk and I am so happy that it now appeared. all my files are now showing and I will make sure I back them up. THANK YOU ! THANK YOU!

hi there I did what you suggest but I says "cannot open volume for direct access"

right click CMD And "Run As Administrator".

Hello,

can you go to start and type "cmd" and press enter.

then type "chkdsk J: /r" and press OK.

try accessing the folder after this has finished.

I did it first as your suggestion "chkdsk J: /r", made it through, but still drive inaccessible and keep showing LOCAL DISK instead of SEAGATE. So I rescan again using "chkdsk J: /f and
I am so happy that . all my files are now showing and I will make sure I back them up.

Thanks for the sharing, and I am able to recover my file and use my HDD.
