I have been dealing with my Toshiba satellite m100 being pretty slow for a few years now. I bought it in 2006 I think.

I have read other forums trying to find how to reset my Toshiba to the factory settings but am unable to.

In the last 6months, it has started shutting off for no reason at all. Sometimes it will shut off 30 seconds after having turned it on and logging in. Other times it can go for 30minutes before doing this.

I just want to use it for typing and storing my phone backup. I do not care to backup anything that is on it as I have tried a few times only to have it shut off on me, so it is either keep an unusable laptop or cut my losses and reset it, which I am fine to do. I have tried doing the holding 0 while it turns on trick and I have searched for reset in the system.

So if anyone at all can help, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I did try that, it did not work. I bought this laptop in 2006 and those instructions are for models from mid 2007 onwards. Any other ideas, all help is hugely appreciated.
