                    Are these other "drives" really partitions sharing the one physical drive with "Drive C"?  
I suspect the partition table was damaged during the Windows XP install. Perhaps you can use one of the 3rd party partition management programs to repair the partition table since XP is not able to perform this function. I suggest you Google "partition management" to find a list of such programs.
