Hello Kat,

It's not an internet problem but an Internet Explorer issue.

Boot your computer in safe mode and see if you can launch IE.

To boot in safe mode, restart the machine tapping F8. Select safe mode with networking.

Let me know.

P.S. XP is no longer supported, this is the first of many problems you may encounter.

Hi, thank you for your reply, I'm useless with stuff like this! I've followed your advice and it's worked! But the screen now seems to be 5 times larger than before lol.
As for windows xp would you suggest I up grade by installing new software? If so what?
Thanks loads again

To reduce the screen, press ctrl+the minus key, several times if need be.

Now that you are on Internet, to avoid problem with IE, download, install and use Firefox as your default browser. Here is the link:

Once you have Firefox installed, boot in normal mode and use it.

Now that you have resetted to factory settings, you would need to download and install XP's service packs 2 and 3 and they are no longer available.

You should install a newer operating system such as Windows 7 or 8.1, or Unbuntu, but I don't know if your Laptop has the capacity to support those operating system. I would have to research your laptop's specifications and I am kind of very busy and pressed for time. Perhaps you can Google it.

See this link:

Good luck
