Hello btjjcrev,
What operating system do you use on your laptop? If it's Windows I would recommend you to use a repair CD if you have one. If you don't, then it would be better to start up your laptop in Safe mode. Then open the Command prompt and type the following command:
sfc /scannow
Once you have done this, please come here and share the results.
