Hello
I suggest that your best bet is to restore to factory settings. Unfortunately all of your data will be lost but it's better than a dead computer.
Good luck

There are lots of suggestions online if you google 'start menu missing from Windows 10' or 'calendar missing from windows 10'.
I followed the poster Liam Hughes' suggestion down the page here.... http://forums.windowscentral.com/ask-question/372178-start-menu-not-working-windows-10-after-upgrading.html
I have Avast installed as my antivirus.
When I followed the instructions, then restarted my computer, my start menu appeared, and a calendar appeared in the bottom r/h side of the screen.
Everything seems to be ok now, but why can't Microsoft get these things sorted beforehand? Seems like so many people have the same problem.

It's just occurred to me that I might have an even bigger problem. When I went into Security, it said restore 'Windows 8'. Problem is I have never had Windows 8; only Windows 7.
What can I do to get rid of Windows 10? I can't find System Restore, I can't find anything for that matter. PLEASE HELP ME!!!!

Best solution is to install windows 7 again.
