Laptop not picking up iPod Touch 5th Generation

I want to get music onto my iPod through iTunes but i cant get my laptop to recognize my iPod.I even tried resetting and erase all content and setting to put it back to brand new but still nothing so it cant be the ipods problem? but the laptop is able to pick up my daddys iPhone 4s ??? someone please help!?!

Hello,

you're going to have to completely remove iTunes and its components then reinstall iTunes again.

Will that make my laptop recognise my ipod? Also i noticed that when i plugged in my ipod to the laptop and held down the power and middle button while its connected the itunes logo comes up and says connect to it and my laptop picks up my iPod but says it doesn't recognise it.How do i get my laptop to recognise my iPod?

You need to remove all of iTunes and its components...
