External hard disk unable to open my files

Hello,

I've got an external hard drive and just last night I inserted it to my school lab desktop and when ejecting out and plugging it into another desktop and you know what, there it appears on my external hard disk shortcut folders. Even the folders that contain my files was indicated as a shortcuts and I am now unable to open my files. Any help!

Thought that your school pc have virus which transferred to your external disk.

Try this 1:

Check whether the files are not in hidden mode. Follow the following steps.

Step 1:

Click on the below link and download the file "AutorunExterminator"

https://ccm.net/downloads/security-and-maintenance/5911-autorun-exterminator/

Extract it --> Double-click on "AutorunExterminator" --> Plug your External

hard drive now.

This will remove the autorun.inf files from your External hard drive and also from

the drives.

Step 2:

Click on "Start" -->Run --> type cmd and click on OK.

Here I assume your External hard drive as G:

Enter this command.

attrib -h -r -s /s /d g:\*.*

You can copy the above command --> Right-click in the Command Prompt and

paste it.

Note : Replace the letter g with your External hard drive letter.

Now check for your files in External Drive.

Step 3:

After that, download the Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from the below link

https://ccm.net/downloads/security-and-maintenance/4621-malwarebytes-anti-malware/

Update it --> Perform "Full Scan"

Note : Default selected option is "Quick Scan".

Hello,

This is Rathish from India. I bought both my laptop and my external drive in UK. I am using Windows 7 Home. I bought that hard drive after 18 months. when I plugged in my HDD it's not showing up d icon of the HDD. This one happens after connecting into my cousin's computer. Actually, Toshiba HDD's will turn into white color from Blue when it's plugged into a computer, but in my case, it still glows in Blue, so I don't know what is the exact problem of it. Can anyone help me to get rid of this one?

my thoshiba external 1 tb hard disk drive just going in loading, when I open my computer it going in not responding mode. right click doesnt show anything. no data shown for this drive

Hello, I have a Toshiba Canvio Basic 1TB external hard drive. I'm an aspiring game developer/artist and I have several years' worth of work on it.

Today, the hard drive suddenly just stopped working. It was working just fine this morning, but when I plug it in now, it is completely undetectable. File manager, device manager, nor hard disk partitioner can find it.

Interestingly, when the hard drive DID work, it had a blue light that always flashed when my PC was on. However, now the blue light constantly stays on when plugged in instead of blinking, so I know the hard drive is at least receiving power - thus making it unlikely that it's an issue with its cable. Toshiba 1tb is not recognized on any computer

Hello,

I have a 1TB Toshiba hard drive which can no more be identified on my laptop and any other computer all of a sudden.
When i connect the USB cable, the blue light on the drive stays on for sometime then goes back off and still the drive cant be identified. Someone please help me i hope the drive isn't dead.
