Hello,
I am having an issue with my external Passport Drive. It Appears in the Device Manager list correctly: http://i.imgur.com/prnhm55.png
The Universal Serial Buss Controllers dont show any Yellow Triangles: http://i.imgur.com/qHxnRv8.png

But My file explorer stops opening when i plug my Passport in and stays like this: http://i.imgur.com/G3QafgK.png

Also this shows up when i try to do anything with my passport: http://i.imgur.com/1ueF5Jb.png

I really do not want to format it since i have many things I need in it.

If anyone can help I would really appreciate it. Thank you a lot

After plugging in the device, go to device manager (In run type "devmgmt.msc") In Device manager go to "Universal serial bus controllers" It should list the storage devices that you have connected to your PC. Right click and then click "Uninstall. Remove the USB drive and restart your system.
Try connecting the device again

It shows this on the universal serial bus controllers: http://i.imgur.com/suzI1o5.png
Do you happen to know which one is the passport because I can't really tell?

I would think it would be a mass storage device, but I am not sure.

If you wish, a Western Digital Certified contributor will be online tomorrow morning.

R2D2 WD and two others actually work for Western Digital, I will refer your issue to them and they should get back to you within 18 hours, time for them to get out of bed in Europe.

Hi again,

Sorry to see that your drive has bad sectors. Unfortunately, in this situation there is a little that can be done, but I guess, there is a chance that you could recover the data with a data recovery company. If you already have an idea where to bring the drive to extract the data, you could go there, but if you don't, here's a list where you could find information regarding data recovery companies: http://products.wdc.com/support/kb.ashx?id=HzY2aP
To obtain additional help, you could reach our colleagues by raising a ticket by clicking on this link: http://products.wdc.com/support/kb.ashx?id=31wQZn

Best of luck!
