No internet signal when monitor is plugged into my laptop

Hello, I just bout a 27 inch HP monitor and was using it with my HP laptop. However, whenever the monitor is plugged in to the laptop I lose my internet signal and other times it moves at a snail pace (worst than dial-up speed). In advice on how to correct this problem, I really like having a large display instead of a laptop screen?

Is this 27 inch monitor a TUBE or a flat screen? I would suggest moving the monitor 90 degrees to the right and see if it helps?
