Mouse Glitching

It has happened for over a week now and i am unsure as to how to fix it. My mouse randomly stops working and freezes on the screen and then after about a minute of nothing the mouse unfreezes and works again. i am getting extremely frusterated trying to get it to work. any advice is greatly appreciated

should have stated im using a toshiba satellite laptop
