Acer laptop not connecting to certain WiFis

My acer laptop wont connect to my school wifi. it doesnt even show up. It works for other wifi connections, like my home but does work for school.

I think it doesnt have the right frequency or something, will i have to buy a device to plug into my wifi network to connect it?

It is possible the school is using an N rated wireless device, and you only have a G device.
