How to Take Screenshots on the Microsoft Surface

May 2017

This small guide explains how to take screenshots on the different versions of the Microsoft Surface tablet. You will notice is that there's no Printscreen button on the Surface's keyboard, but it won't be a major concern as there are many other ways to take screenshots on your device.

On the Microsoft Surface Pro, Pro 2 and RT: Simultaneously press the Windows + Volume down.

The procedure is different on the Surface Pro 3: Hold down the Fn key and the Windows button and then tap on Spacebar.

Your screen will flick, indicating that the screenshot has been saved. You can view the screenshot by going to your Picture Library > Screenshots folder (C:\Users\\My Pictures\Screenshots).

You can also use the Snipping tool to take screenshots. The Snipping tool is already installed on your device and its main purpose is to capture snapshots of all or part of your screen. To launch the Snipping tool, simply open the Search Charms and search for the app.
