Hi my laptop wont connect to the internet ,it just went off. I went to control panel,
Clicked on Adjust common used mobility setting,
The vertical bars on the r/h side was there with a red cross. under this it says turn wireless on,
But when I click this it does not work , & where its states turn wireless on its seems to be greyed out.
When it happened about 4 days ago , when done the above it worked fine & it turned the wireless back on but now it wont do it,
Can any one help. Many thanks.

I suggest you do a recovery to a date before the problems started. That might fix a software problem.

You might have a hardware problem that has disconnected the wifi component. Sometimes wifi is implemented with a add-in card located behind the battery or the memory door in a laptop. You might check to see if the connecting wire(s) are OK.

Good Luck

Thanks for that , I did do a restore but that did not work. Its strange with out doing anything it come back on, the only thing is I left the laptop on charge all night, so I am wondering If the battery is getting weak as its about 6 years old.
Many thanks. Doug.

After 6 years - I would replace the battery. I suggest you buy an OEM battery since after market batteries are mostly junk.
