My laptop only work with my external hard drive

Hello,

Since a couple of mouth my laptop is only able to recognize and give power to texternal hard drive. If I plug a USB key or a mouse, it gives no power and does not recognize anything.

I tried to do updates, and install drivers and nothing change. Now i'm going crazy because I really don't know what's the problem !!

It sounds like a USB port is bad. Take the drive out, and plug it into the keyboard port. Does it still work (the drive that is!)?

Hi Mark,

I'm not sure what you mean by plug it into the keyboard port because it's a laptop and I have 1 USB 2.0 and a USB 3.0, oh and btw my external hard drive cable is 3.0. (the only thing that works)

OK, see if the ports are enabled in BIOS. If you don't know how to look, take it to a technician!
