Can't log in to Facebook because Code Generator fails Solved/Closed

Question

When I try to log into my fb account on desktop I need to get the code from the Code Generator on the mobile app which I can't get because I can't log in there either because I don't have a 3rd party authentication app and I don't have the recovery codes. When I don't fill in the code it asks me to 'try another way' which it doesn't give me, it only explains where I can find the Code Generator or use a browser where I am logged in.. It also says that it will re-send an sms which I don't get. I do receive sms for changing the password.
What can I do???
It all started when I got logged out every 10 minutes. Once I got logged out of the phone I was stuck.

UPDATE! Good news.

I am in!!

I have an account manager because we use FB ads, this is an actual person who you can even speak to on the phone and replies to emails .I asked her for help .

You cannot apply for a manager, Meta approaches their customers and offers a manager. But if you somehow can organise one it could be your ticket out.

She was helpful and created a ticket with the Meta Pro team. This is something that ordinary people have no access to but I will check with her.They were pretty useless and only feeding me links with all the articles we already read and tried. They closed tickets before I confirmed it was solved.

When, after a few different tickets it was clear nothing worked I got forwarded to the app's technical support team (for mobile) to get  the code generator restored. After verifying with the account manager they gave me 10 fresh temporary recovery codes!

8 months this took...

Thank you, The methods suggested don't apply to me, the 'similar topic' is very similar, I have the same issue but don't get the link 'having trouble?' on the log in page when asked for my generated code. I have no options!
When clicking the 'need another way to authenticate' it tells me where to find the generator.
So it's a pure mystery to me. Any other suggestions?

Thank you for getting back to me. When I try accessing from my phone's browser I indeed have the 'approve from another device'. it does mean though that I need to log in on that other device....which I cant.
I also have the option to generate a code from the app, but I can't log in to the app either because I don't have a 3rd party authentication app installed neither do I have the recovery codes.

Hi,

It looks like you're completely stuck as there are no alternative options.

Normally, you should have an option to confirm your identity when you select the "Having trouble" link. As you don't have it, try confirming your identity via this form directly.

Thanks a lot HelpiOS, the recovery steps don't work there I have to fill in the 2 step code from the Generator that I can't reach.

Perhaps the link shows up after 96 hours and cleared cookies and cache.

There is no way out. I don't get any option to verify my account. I created a new account with a new email address but the same phone number... within 30 seconds the account got suspended for 30 days...!!
I give up :-(

Try to prove that you own that new account by submitting your ID - or use completely different contact info if your account keeps getting blocked.

I have no other solution to suggest.

No, for me there was no solution. The link "Need help" is still broken. No way to contact a human being, I sent a copy of ID, I own a Facebook page with 350k followers and run ads...nothing.

I created a new account.

There is one way though to post on the old account: Post something on Instagram and share on the linked account.

I am still open to a solution even if it was only to delete the old account.

I have been in this situation since February 2022. Now I received an email saying I need to turn on FACEBOOK PROTECT by May 26, 2022 otherwise I will not be able to login to my account FOREVER!!!!!

I have already tried all the suggestions here months ago and nothing worked!

Im literally battling the same thing since I had my iPhone repaired and they deleted all my data.
Endless doom loop with no solution and no one to talk to.

Even worse I have all of my companies ad accounts on there and have NO ACCESS TO ANYTHING.

When they try to text me a code (instead of Code Generator) it never arrives.

They're literally costing me (and themselves) thousands of dollars a day, but there isnt eve chat support EFF FACEBOOK.

I am in the same situation, and I am completely stuck! I can not access my Business Page (I am the only admin)  - I can not stop the ads og get invoices for our financial department. I have contacted all the large agencies in Norway that are "Facebook" verified, and they can not help. Please let me know if anyone finds a solution to this nightmare!

I was approached by a lady for business support to optimise my ads. I told her my log-in issues and she created a ticket. The support team gave me the link above and also this reply:

Got the solution!!

Download Google authenticator and use the code generated from google authenticator for Facebook to login. Voila!

Hi guys, just found this thread...I'm the same situation of you all. I know email, password and have access to the mobile number linked to the account but can't login as I don't have access to the authenticator app which is the only method I should use to approve logins (can't force them to send a text message to my mobile number). Terrible loop!

I checked with the account manager if there was anything she could do for all the other 'victims' in this forum. She gave me a link to the chat. However, I don't see a chat here, just preprogrammed solutions.:

I'm in the same boat. Asking me for a login code from a code generator that I don't have and have never used. Only giving me one option to authenticate. When I go to my mobile app and go to code generator I get an error when I click activate. I'm also the sole owner of a business manager and have lost all access to my client accounts. If I don't get it back I'll lose my business. Has anyone found a solution? Facebook has been no help at all.
