No hard disk found

Hello,
I have got a sony vio laptop
when I keep the windows Xp cd then It gives a message
No hard disk found
I want to format and install windows Xp

go to BIOS and disable SATA or ACHI change in somthing else like COMPITABILITY or somthing...
