ipod touch wont connect to itunes! Closed

Hello,
my ipod touch was working perfectly, then it suddenly stopped working, it wont connect to the computer, itunes, charger, etc. It just shows an image of a lead connecting to a cd/music note. i have the latest itunes and i restarted the computer and reinstalled itunes!

Dear Smithy, 

You can still manage the iPod manually using iTunes or even 

manage the iPod without the use of iTunes. Please find how to
