My desktop, which is a HP Pavilion Slimline, started freezing up. Anytime I click on anything except Firefox it just sits there with the little loading icon and never does anything. After that point I cannot click on anything. I cannot even search for anything in the search tab in the start menu. My anti-virus has been stopped and I can't access it to restart it. I tried to download the software again, the program downloads but will not respond and freezes up when I try to click on it. My command prompt opens but will not respond to anything I enter into it, it just says something about me not being allowed to do that. I try to run it as administrator but it will not respond to that either. Please help!
try downloading avg free, (personal preference) to a thumb drive from another computer, and booting your computer up in safe mode....then install avg and run your first scan and see what happens.
or, if you don't feel like doing that....does it keep popping up with a popup that tells a file name and path?, if so, boot up in safemode, track it down, (probably be in a hidden folder) delete it, and remove from recycling bin, careful, don't wanna restore it....then restart your computer normally, happens a lot with acer laptops too
Are you talking about a flash drive? If so, I don't have one of those. Also to answer your question, nothing pops up at all, it just makes that dinging noise anytime I click on something. I haven't gotten any error messages at all.
