Hello,
My Toshiba laptop (Satellite) - NTFS system suddenly would start up - it would go into either the CKDisk status or Startup repair - and continue into that mode forever (like over 30 hours at a time). I tried downloading onto a DVD a repair program but it won't bring up anything off the E Drive so I can't run the program. Have Vista basic.

We are located in Mexico in a small fishing town so running for help isn't an option. Have tried going through F2, F8, & F12 and nothing seems to want to work.

Any help/suggestions really appreciated.

Hello,
1) Most of the laptop will be having the harddisk test option in the BIOS. First, plug the AC Adapter into the laptop, switch ON --> Go to BIOS, look for that option and run the harddisk test.
2) Try once again to boot into "Safe mode with command" prompt. Let me know if you are able to boot into it.
When you switch ON your laptop, keep tapping the "F8" key to get "Windows Advanced Options"( if boot menu appears, press "Esc" key and keep tapping the F8 key). Select the option "Safe Mode with Command Prompt" --> Press Enter
Good Luck
