I was out of town on business. When I returned I attempted to logon to my hotmail email account, and was greeted with the following message:
"Your account has been blocked
Why are you seeing this?
Someone may have used your account to send out a lot of junk messages (or something else that violates the Windows Live Terms of Service).
We're here to help you get your account back.
What do you need to do?
We'll walk you through a few steps to verify that you own the account, then have you change your password in case someone else has been accessing your account. It should only take a few minutes and then you'll be unblocked and on your way.
We've cleaned your account settings
Often customers get here because someone else has access to your account and are using it without your knowledge to send spam. To protect you and your contacts, we've removed any Hotmail auto-replies or linked accounts you may have had."
When I click on the "Continue" button it transfers me to a email address that has not existed for more than ten years. When I attempt to access that email address I receive a message that the email address does not exist.
I must access my email account, immediately. I have had no access now for nearly three weeks.
I have spent more than fifty hours on a wide variety of sites attempting to access my account, without success. I am ready to pull out my hair. I did not ask that my account be blocked, but it is.
I have telephoned MSN attempting to speak to a human being, without success.
Every route I attempt eventually cycles me back to the site that has the email address than has not been working, or utilized, for more than ten years.

There is presently many people in the same situation. We suspect that hackers are hard into it, almost an epedemic. Because of the situation, some users have reported that it takes a week to get an answer from Hotmail.
So when I try and do any of the above it says that im not signed in and that I need to be. so I click continue and it says that my account has been blocked. when I try and do the mobile phone recovery I get no text message. its a never ending circle.
Ambucias .. I am experiencing the same issue. To retrieve the code, it is sent to my alternative email, which is no longer exist .. I cant retrieve it because the particular email domain no longer available.
I have sent a ticket to MSN, giving the information as much as possible and waiting for their response.
Is there any other alternative, which I can use request them to send the code to my new email account? Really need help as I have lots of emails which I need to go through.
Thanks for your support
Yes, I have already open another email account in order for them to reply back.
Rather than dealing through email, do they have any contacts who can assist me on this ?
I am based in SEA.
I can get the code, fill out all the information, which is all correct, but still they say they can't verify it! No phone number, no people to talk to, absolutely ridiculous. I have plane tickets in there that I need in the next few days! Unbelievable, I can't believe they're allowed to do this, there's 8 years worth of information that I need in my account!
Sorry to hear about your dilemma and I understand. Unfortunately, there is no other way to recover your account.
I estimate that hundreds of Hotmail accounts are being hacked daily and for the time being Hotmail is not secured.
I encourage all those who have a Hotmail account to backup their data as soon as possible and to rely on a e-mail service through the Internet service provider.
Why should I have to pay for something that MSN allowed to come through? They obviously don't offer any firewalls. Luckily the only thing I use hotmail for is Facebook so I'm just going to give up. There are no e-mail addresses in my hotmail and luckily I don't even use the same browser.
There are no customer support link and Hotmail is not provided for any other way to unblock account then the ones in this thread. If you are not successful, you are marooned.
There is not other way, no other solution existing on this earth, sorry but you are doomed. That's the way the cookie crumbles. I would write to Bill Gates, the owner of Hotmail for you, but his account is secret or got blocked.
second time this happened in a few months. no other email does this to me. time to say farewell, which I must do because I am up the creek here, no one to talk to, no way out of this, and sadly no way to get back to my good old hotmail account. It is sunk. I suggest we all just wander off to a mail client that has better safeguards. ciao.
I aggree, Hotmail must have the worst customer service in the world. I have also been locked out of my account for over two weeks now. I have been going in circles with the staff. If you are looking to set up an e-mail account, I strongly urge you to NOT go with Hotmail.
I am in the same boat.. and the email address they want to send the new password too is from years ago and I have no idea what that password was. its been almost a week. I am not far off chaning over to gmail.. thank god for face book is all I can say.
i have asked a few friends if they have received spam from my hotmail address.. none of them have. very frustrating!
That sounds like disgusting customer service from Hotmail. My account was blocked yesterday. It doesn't sound too promising reading all the forums. Has anyone ever had success recovering their email address? I too have had my email address with hotmail since 1997 (14 years)! This is a disaster!
lots of spam was being sent from my account and then I suddenly couldn't access my mail on my iPhone. I tried to sign in on a PC and I've also been blocked?! I've been through the "recovery form" process and I've had no e-mails at all! There doesn't appear to be any humans working for Hotmail, it's all failing e-forms. I just can't find any help anywhere?I've got information being sent to it lef,t right and centre and I can't access any of it! it's great.
i am facing the same problem here. I try to change my password and type the code they sent to another account but failed to log in also. anyone tell me how to report or complain to hotmail?
There is only one way to communicate with Hotmail and that is the way Hotmail has provided to recover accounts and they have not provided means to have direct contact with customer services unless you have a paid account. They have not provided any other solution.
Unfortunately Hotmail is not secured and one should never save data on Hotmail servers without backing it up
I have the same problem. Suddenly started today and is extremely frustrating. Can't work effectively without email. I am temporarily working in Pakistan, as if that isn't enough pressure
here is the text taken from Hotmail/MSN site on how to recover your account:
Somebody stole your password to send spam. We temporarily block the accounts compromised to help you you and your contacts, and then let us help you to recover your account.
The fastest means to recover your account is to change your password. Then you will want certainly to ensure you that the person at the origin of this incident did not change the data of your account, which would enable him to take again at once the control of your account.
Here the steps which you should follow:
1. Can you always connect you? If you can, change your password. For this follow our steps to modify your password.
http://windowslivehelp.com/
2. Were asked to give your cell phone number after connected? At the time of connection, it is possible indeed that we ask for a telephone number in order to send you a message text containing to you a secret code. This is intended to prevent the spammers from using your account.
3. If you do not manage to connect you, try to redefine your password. http://windowslivehelp.com/
During the process of validation it to you will be asked key information on your account Windows Live that you only you will be able to provide us. This enables us to check that you are the rightful owner of the account. The criteria of requirement intended to protect you are very strict, consequently you must give us as much information as possible and details for each question. It is possible that you need to request from some your friends and contacts to ask for confirmation of subject of received emails or addresses email of contacts. The more information, the more we will be able to validate your account and thus to help you to recover the access on your account.
If for a different reason you can't connect you for a different reason, see information on this subject on the page relating to connection problems of connection:
http://windowslivehelp.com/
There is no other way to recover your account and no other way to contact Hormail.
Look at this thread proving that the solution provided works:
Unfortunately Hotmail is not secured and one should never save data on Hotmail servers without backing it up
My account had been blocked this morning after sending email to my friends!!! JUST 2 MINUTES AFTER SENDING EMAIL TO MY FRIENDS!!!
