Hello,

My lap top has decided not to boot up! (built in 2006) XP professional and intel Centrino.

I had noticed that it would not boot up if the power cord (power light on for a few seconds -no fan operation-) was connected, so I started booting off the battery alone, and a few minutes later would reconnect the cord.
Now, not only does it not boot up with the power cord plugged in (either with or without the battery in-place), but, now whenever I attempt to boot up with the battery alone, the cooling fan starts, the CD light flashes and the HDD winks once (as if it would boot up normally), then it dies maybe within 5-10 seconds.

What IS the problem with this thing?

Your kind help will be greatly appreciated

Hi,

If temperature is hot then then its overheating issue you need to clean the heat sink filter for this use this Faq as guide:
