NO SOUND, Speakers or Headphones:(

Hello,
ihave no audio coming through either my speaker or my headphone jack on my laptop, im running windows vista/microsoft.....

there seems to be to main solutions throught the forums i can find,
1) go through control panal making sure driver is present/ up to date....
2) run services.msc and see if the audio has "started"

also i have checked all mutes aare off and volumes are up, anyone have any more suggestions?? please
