Hello, and thanks again
My other computer is a Gateway GT5654, It has a tower and I'm not sure how old it is. But, for a while now it hasn't recognized any USB plugs that I insert into the ports. Can anyone help me solve this problem? I've been told it involves driver software but I can't figure out what needs to be updated.

Thanks again

You can go to Control Panel - Hardware and Sound - Device Manager

the last entry should be "Universal Serial Bus Controllers" if you open the list you should find a number of entries.

Generic USB Hub
USB Root Hub
USB Mass Storage Device
xxxxxxxx Universal Host Controller
xxxxxxxx Enhanced Host Controller (where xxxx is the name of the chip provider Intel or VIA or some other manufacturer)
(The "Enhanced Host Controller is used for USB 2.0 hardware)

Your safest action would be to "roll back" both Host Controllers to an older version. "Roll Back" is an option under "driver" after you double click the Host controller entry.

Good Luck
