Dell monitor in power save mode

Hello,
Just fixed this problem after reading tons of items. Everyone seems to have a different solution. Personally I think most problems are a result of a plug in error of some kind. I had connected my monitor to another computer and ended up in this "power save mode" and after a frustrating hour found that a pin in my VGA connection somehow got bent (it was flat down at the bottom of all the pins - actually looked like it belonged there). I straightened it back up and replugged everything and wolla it works!!
