Hello,

I just bought an ipod touch from someone and i have downloaded itunes, but at first it kept saying it couldn't work becuase i needed quicktime (which should have downloaded with itunes), so eventually I just downloaded quicktime separately from the quicktime site, but now the problem is: itunes works but when i plug in the ipod it brings up a message saying this ipod won't work because software is missing and tells to run the installer and uninstall and then reinstall itunes. I have done that 20 times and it still says the same thing. Can anyone help me???????

IF U R GETTING A XP SOFTWARE INSTALLER ERROR MESSAGE WHILE DOWNLOADING ITUNES FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS BELOW

Try removing Apple software update using the steps in this article:
XP
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1925

Vista
https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204275

If you get an error uninstalling you need to do an installer cleanup.
Download and install Microsoft Installer cleanup utility, there are instructions on the page as well as the download. Note that what you download is the installer not the program - you have to run it to install the program.

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/290301/

To run the program - All Programs>>Windows Install Cleanup

Remove any entries you finds for Apple Software update.

Download a fresh copy of the iTunes installer from here:
https://www.apple.com/itunes/
Save the file on you desktop rather than running it from your browser.

THIS IS STRIAGHT FROM THE APPLE WEBSITE
