WD Passport Not recognized.

Opened device manager and under disk drives it shows that it is plugged in (shown as USB Device) and when I hit update driver software it says it is all up to date. However when I open control panel it does not recognize that it is plugged in. As well as when I open Disk Management, nothing is shown. I am running Windows 7 on an HP laptop. Just got the laptop about 2 months ago and this is the first time I am trying to access my external hard drive.

I have faith since it shows that it is there that the passport isn't corrupted or anything, but I have no idea how else to try to open it to access the files.
