hi there,
ive been having this problem where suddenly ive got a red X(cross) on my volume icon.
Before any1 says this, its not on mute.
I have tried everything I have read on the internet.
I have gone to device manager, tried the scan for hardware change ... tried the upgrade drivers and even uninstalled and reinstalled.
i even went to ''services'' and tried starting the audio there... nothing happens
Please help guys

Wait. You're situation has changed. You've gone from no audio, to system restore to a completely fresh installation. How can you expect us to help you if you're moving the goal posts all the time? You're making more problems.
When you reinstall windows it doesn't automatically install the drivers for the hardware (sometimes it does). In your case not. You need to go to the hp website and put in your model number. Download and install all drivers.
