Can't use Internet even if the network has an Internet connectio

I have tried several solutions, flush dns, renew ip, reset winsock, yet nothings works.
For some reason my phone works but my laptop don't. I am connected wireless.
But once when, I think reseted winsock or flushed dns I could connect to am irc channel for a short moment

Ok hang in there...what O/S?

Do you pull an IP address? Can you ping the gateway?

Can't ping sites and it's a hotel network. How do ping the gateway?

If it is the hotel network, are they charging you? Is it free? What does the front desk say?

It's free, I don't think they would disable Internet just for laptops, since I'm using it on my phone without problems.

OK, well get to a command prompt and issue IPCONFIG/all.

Look at the IP address, and the gateway address. Do they look the same, almost? Let us know what those number are. Let me know if you need help getting to a command prompt.

Yes, they are the same 192.168.1.1

Ok, well that is your problem.

You have not pulled an ip address from the DHCP. You have to be in the 192.168.1.X range. Manually set a static IP address for 192.168.1.190 and put 192.168.1.1. as you gateway with 192.168.1.1 as your DNS with secondary DNS set to 4.2.2.2

Give that a go.

And right now it says I don't have an Internet connection on my laptop for some reason
