Dell Inspiron 1501

When I turn the power on I get page that says Dell inspirion 1501 series BIOS revision 2.4.1. on the bottom of the screen in grey area says"press F2 to enter Setup F12 to enter Multiboot selection menu. If I do F12 the bottom screen (in grey area) It says Entering Bootmenu........but that's it. Same with F2.....it just stays there. no keys work. Have to hit power button.
When I turn the power on and get the above stuff and hit ESC instead of F@ or F12 I get the Stat page....ex: Copyright, Bios, Build Time, AMD, All right reserved, 632K system RAM Passed, 1918M Extented RAM passed, 1024 KB L2 Chache, ATAPI CD-Rom: tSsTcorp DvD+/-Rw tS-L632H., at bottom of screen I have the same options F2 or F12. F12 does not work but F2 does. bottom of screen says "entering Setup........but that is all it will do. nothing loads. Tried to use disks but does not read. If I touch any key at this point I get a beep on almost all of them. Any Ideas? It is too old to take to repair shop. I am sure the charges would be more than it's worth. This has Window Vista
